Clannad
Clannad streams on HIDIVE and Amazon Prime Video, and it's the beginning of one of anime's most beloved emotional epics. Tomoya is a disaffected delinquent drifting through his last year of high school when he meets Nagisa, a gentle girl repeating the grade, and slowly finds himself pulled back toward caring about something again. This first series builds the friendships and warmth that its legendary sequel, After Story, later turns into a full-blown gut-punch about family and growing up. Start here.
About
Tomoya Okazaki has checked out of his own life. His mother is gone, his relationship with his father has soured into cold distance, and he coasts through his senior year as an aimless troublemaker. Then, on the walk to school, he meets Nagisa Furukawa, a shy girl held back a year by illness and left behind by the friends who moved on without her. The two begin spending time together, and as Tomoya is drawn into her orbit and the lives of the people around her, the bitter edges of his world slowly start to soften and shift toward something worth holding on to.
