Parasyte
Parasyte streams on Netflix and HIDIVE, and it's a body-horror thriller that doubles as a surprisingly thoughtful story about what it means to be human. Alien parasites arrive and burrow into human hosts, but the one that targets high-schooler Shinichi botches the job and ends up trapped in his right hand. Forced into an uneasy partnership with the coldly logical creature he names Migi, Shinichi has to survive a world quietly overrun by predators wearing human faces. Gruesome, gripping, and smarter than its premise suggests.
About
One night, silent creatures drift down from the sky with a single instinct: burrow into a human, take over the brain, and feed. The parasite meant for teenager Shinichi Izumi fails to reach his head and instead lodges itself in his right hand, leaving the two of them stuck sharing one body. Shinichi keeps his humanity; his new companion, which he names Migi, keeps its ruthless, purely rational drive to survive. As more of these predators settle into ordinary lives around him, Shinichi is caught in the middle, no longer entirely human but not one of them either, and forced to decide what he's willing to become to stay alive.
