About
Mary is spending a bored, clumsy summer at her great-aunt's country house when a peculiar cat leads her into the forest — to an old broomstick and the fly-by-night, a flower that blooms once in seven years and grants magic to whoever touches it. One accidental flight later, she's above the clouds at Endor College, a dazzling academy of magic whose headmistress is delighted by Mary's apparent talent. But borrowed magic runs out, and the school's fascination with transformation hides experiments that have gone very wrong. When the truth surfaces, Mary has to fix things with no powers at all — which is exactly the point.
