Great Teacher Onizuka
Great Teacher Onizuka streams on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video, and it remains one of anime's funniest and most surprisingly moving series. A 22-year-old ex-biker gang member decides to become a high school teacher, and his utterly unorthodox methods slowly crack open a class of students who had given up on adults entirely.
About
Eikichi Onizuka is loud, crude, and a former delinquent with exactly the wrong resume for a classroom, yet he becomes a teacher anyway, mostly for the wrong reasons. Assigned to a class of gifted students who have systematically destroyed every teacher before him, Onizuka refuses to play by the rules and instead meets their cruelty with reckless empathy. One student at a time, he uncovers the pain behind their behavior, proving that the least qualified man in the building might be exactly the mentor they needed. It's raucous comedy with a genuinely big heart.

The series stands entirely on its own and needs no prior viewing. There's an earlier story about Onizuka's delinquent days, but GTO is the perfect and complete place to start.
