About
Humanity learned to fear the Titans a few centuries before this story begins — towering, blank-eyed giants, some tall enough to look a city's rooftops in the eye, that devoured people seemingly for pleasure rather than hunger and drove the species to the brink of extinction. The survivors walled themselves in, raising barriers higher than even the largest Titan could reach and building their lives safely inside. For over a hundred years the plan held: nothing crossed the walls, and the terror beyond them faded into the stuff of old stories. Then, in a single afternoon, a colossal Titan no one has ever seen materializes without warning, breaches the outer wall, and lets the smaller giants pour into the hometown of a teenage boy named Eren Yeager. The attack costs him everything, his mother included, and out of that ruin he swears a single furious oath: to kill every Titan and avenge mankind. His adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman and fellow lead Armin Arlert round out the central trio. What makes the show sing is the turn it takes from there — the colossal Titan's impossible arrival curdles a survival nightmare into something far more paranoid, as the question of what these creatures truly are begins to swallow everything else.
