Demon Slayer Watch Order

5 entries · 57 episodes total

The simplest way to watch Demon Slayer is in release order. Start with Season 1, then watch the Mugen Train movie, the Entertainment District Arc, the Swordsmith Village Arc, and the Hashira Training Arc. Together, they tell one continuous story about Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted charcoal seller who joins a corps of demon hunters after a demon kills his family and turns his younger sister into one of the creatures he must fight. Each arc begins almost exactly where the last one stops, so the growing danger, the arrival of new Hashira, and Tanjiro's hard-earned power-ups make the most sense in sequence. Chronological order and release order are identical here. The only choice involves the Mugen Train movie and its television recut, which we explain below. Start with episode one and continue from there.

  1. 01
    Kimetsu no Yaiba

    TV · 2019 · 26 eps

Begin with this 26-episode first season from 2019. It introduces Tanjiro, his demon-turned sister Nezuko, and the wider Demon Slayer Corps while establishing the conflict that drives every later arc. Since the rest of the franchise continues this story, every new viewer should start here.

  2. 02
Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen

    Movie · 2020 · 1 eps

This 2020 feature film begins immediately after the end of Season 1 and follows Tanjiro and his friends aboard a train plagued by a demon. Mugen Train is part of the main story, not an optional side adventure, and its events lead directly into the Entertainment District Arc, so watch it second.

  3. 03
    Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen

    TV · 2022 · 11 eps

Continue with this 11-episode arc from 2022, which follows directly after the events on the train. Tanjiro goes undercover in the Entertainment District with the flamboyant Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, as they search for a deadly demon that has been preying on the town.

  4. 04
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen

    TV · 2023 · 11 eps

The next stop is the 11-episode Swordsmith Village Arc from 2023. Tanjiro travels to the hidden village where the Demon Slayer Corps' blades are forged, then fights beside two more Hashira, Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji. Its story follows the Entertainment District Arc and belongs here in the sequence.

  5. 05
    Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Geiko-hen

    TV · 2024 · 8 eps

Finish this order with the eight-episode Hashira Training Arc from 2024, the last television chapter. It brings the Demon Slayer Corps together for demanding training meant to prepare them for the coming showdown with Muzan. The ending leads directly into the Infinity Castle films, which continue the story from this point.

FAQ

  • Begin with Season 1 (2019). It introduces Tanjiro, his sister Nezuko, and the demon-slaying world from the ground up, and every later entry expects you to know what happened there. Do not start with the Mugen Train movie or one of the later arcs. They continue the story directly and are not designed as entry points.
