The razor-sharp comic timing, the gleefully off-model reaction faces, and the chemistry between four complete disasters make it one of the most rewatchable comedies anime has.

Kazuma Satou is a homebound gamer whose life ends in thoroughly humiliating fashion the one time he ventures outside. In the afterlife he's met by Aqua, a goddess who dangles a tempting deal: a fresh start in a sword-and-sorcery world that runs on video-game logic, plus one perk of his choosing to bring along. He picks the goddess herself, and regrets it almost instantly. Stranded with no cash, unremarkable stats, and a self-proclaimed deity who's far more liability than blessing, Kazuma learns that slaying the Demon King will have to wait. First there are bills to pay, odd jobs to grind, and two more gloriously broken teammates to recruit. Heroism, it turns out, is mostly an exercise in disappointment, and it's a riot to watch.
