About
Kumiko played euphonium all through junior high, but she arrives at Kitauji High half-hoping to leave the instrument behind — especially after her ambiguous falling-out with Reina, the trumpet player whose competitive intensity once unsettled her. Naturally, her new friends drag her straight into the concert band, a club with faded glory and a new advisor who takes it seriously. What follows is the rare school anime about actually getting good at something: sectionals, auditions, jealousy, and the electric moments when practice suddenly becomes music. The Kumiko–Reina relationship is the show's dazzling, complicated heart.
