Outlaw Star
Outlaw Star fits its whole spacefaring treasure hunt into one finished television run. Hulu carries all 24 episodes, so the same service takes you from the opening job to the conclusion. Released in 1998 by Sunrise, the series mixes action and science fiction with comedy that comes from a crew repeatedly landing in trouble. Its 25-minute episodes often make room for a fresh scrape while the search for the Galactic Leyline keeps the larger story moving. Watch it if you want a manga-based adventure with rowdy energy, dangerous chases and a clear destination rather than a distant, solemn mood.
About
Gene Starwind and his young partner Jim Hawking scrape by on small jobs, even though Gene dreams of leaving their quiet planet behind. One risky assignment puts them aboard the advanced ship Outlaw Star and ties their future to Melfina, a bio-android pursued by pirates and other enemies. Suddenly pushed into space before he is ready, Gene gathers an unruly crew and heads toward the mysterious Galactic Leyline. The voyage makes space for odd jobs and comic detours, but the search continues beneath those individual adventures. Gunfights, close escapes and the crew's clashing personalities give the trip its restless pulse without revealing where the mystery leads.
