Noragami
Noragami begins with a minor god taking tiny odd jobs because he has no shrine or worshippers. Crunchyroll carries this 2014 TV season, which runs for 12 episodes of 24 minutes each. The series moves easily between supernatural combat and comedy, but its strongest material comes from the uneasy bonds among Yato, Hiyori and Yukine. The jokes keep the early episodes lively, while the spirit world gives the fights a sharper emotional cost. It suits viewers who like action with an eccentric lead and character conflict that matters outside battle. Since this is the opening season, start here before moving to the sequel arc.
About
Yato calls himself a god, yet he has no shrine and takes whatever work he can find for a small offering. His precarious routine changes when schoolgirl Hiyori saves him from an oncoming bus and finds that her soul can slip away from her body. While searching for a way to restore her, she becomes entangled in Yato's work against dangerous spirits. Yato also brings the troubled young spirit Yukine into his service as a sacred weapon. Their mismatched partnership starts with comic mishaps, then exposes the guilt and loneliness each carries. The premise stays accessible even when the supernatural rules grow more important, and the story keeps its larger mysteries mostly beyond this first season.
