Land of the Lustrous
Land of the Lustrous packs its entire finished anime run into a compact 2017 TV season with 12 episodes. Amazon Prime Video carries the series. Studio Orange uses CG to make the crystalline cast feel physically distinct, with refracted light and sudden fractures becoming part of the action. The early fantasy setup gradually takes on a more uneasy psychological charge as Phos searches for a useful role and begins to change. It is a strong fit for viewers who want mystery and identity questions woven into an action story, but it also asks for attention to quieter shifts in mood and character.
About
Far in the future, a community of living Gems protects its home from radiant attackers called Lunarians, who descend from above and try to carry away their shattered remains. Phos is too brittle for the combat duty they crave, so an encyclopedia assignment appears to offer a safer purpose. That task instead draws Phos toward overlooked corners of their world and questions the other Gems would rather leave alone. As new possibilities alter what Phos can do, each gain also complicates their sense of self. Land of the Lustrous keeps the central mystery spoiler-light as curiosity gives way to loneliness and a stronger desire to matter.
