Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance

8.1MOVIE · 1 eps · 2009

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance is the Rebuild film where recognizable material starts turning into a substantially different story. Amazon Prime Video carries it with the other Rebuild films. Also released as Evangelion Movie 2: Ha, this 2009 feature runs for 112 minutes and assumes you have seen the preceding film. Its appeal comes from watching familiar relationships shift while the Angel battles become harsher and the psychological pressure tightens. Moments of tentative warmth between the pilots make the violence feel personal rather than decorative. It is a strong fit for viewers who enjoy mecha action shaped by anxiety and uneasy human connection. It is not a sensible first taste of Evangelion, since much of its impact depends on an established conflict and on noticing where this version changes course.

About

A new pilot joins the uneasy group already defending humanity, while another mysterious pilot enters the conflict on her own terms. Between increasingly dangerous Angel attacks, the young pilots get rare opportunities to spend ordinary time together and form fragile connections. Those quieter stretches raise the emotional cost when another assault puts both the pilots and the world at risk. Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance begins with a recognizable framework, then steadily pushes its continuity away from the earlier version. The larger struggle remains unresolved, but the film gives this chapter a clear dramatic arc without spoiling the direction of what follows.
