About
Dai Miyamoto discovers jazz as a high schooler in Sendai and it rewires him completely — he practices by the river in snow and heat, not because anyone believes in him, but because he's decided, with terrifying simplicity, to become the best jazz player in the world. Moving to Tokyo, he forms a trio with a technically gifted pianist whose cynicism masks fear, and a drummer starting from absolute zero. The film's genius is honoring all three journeys: raw talent, hard-won craft, and the beginner's humiliating grind.
