About
Decades after the Burnish — mutants wielding living flame — burned half the world, society has rebuilt around containing them. Galo Thymos, a firefighting rookie with more heroic spirit than sense, serves in Burning Rescue, battling blazes with absurd mecha equipment. When he crosses paths with Lio Fotia, the leader of the militant Mad Burnish, Galo's simple worldview starts to crack: the terrorists he's fighting look a lot like refugees, and the gleaming city's leadership has plans for the Burnish that no amount of firefighting can excuse. The plot exists to launch setpieces — and the setpieces, rendered in Trigger's signature angular candy-colored geometry, are among the most visually inventive action sequences ever animated.
