Akudama Drive
Akudama Drive packs its entire cyberpunk crime story into one finished TV season, so there is no long commitment or unfinished cliffhanger to worry about. Crunchyroll and Hulu carry the series. Its 12 episodes run about 24 minutes each and move quickly from a flashy heist setup into a harsher struggle over who gets protected by the city and who gets discarded. The appeal lies in that momentum, the vivid futuristic setting, and a cast forced to cooperate while pursuing very different motives. It suits viewers who want action with real consequences and a complete ending, though its violence and bleak streak make it a poor choice for anyone after a relaxed adventure.
About
In a future Kansai shaped by an old conflict with Kanto, feared criminals are branded Akudama and ranked by the danger they pose. A seemingly ordinary young woman crosses paths with a group assembled for a high-risk job, then claims a criminal identity of her own to avoid becoming their next victim. Trapped among specialists who trust neither the authorities nor one another, she has to keep up as the mission grows far beyond its original brief. What begins as a breakneck robbery story gradually exposes the cruelty beneath the city's bright surfaces, without losing the pressure and forward motion of the chase.
