Ride Your Wave
Ride Your Wave streams on Max. Masaaki Yuasa's sun-soaked romance about a surfer, a firefighter, and the impossible work of letting go — a tearjerker with the director's trademark fluidity in every frame.
About
Hinako moves to a coastal town for university with one certainty in her life: on a wave, she's fearless. When a fire brings her together with Minato, a young firefighter with quiet steadiness she can't stop orbiting, the romance is easy, warm, and brief — the sea that introduced them takes him away. What follows is the film's strange, beautiful gamble: Hinako discovers that singing their song summons Minato in any body of water, and the comfort of that miracle slowly becomes the thing she must outgrow. Grief, buoyancy, and water animated like a living character — it's Yuasa's most openly emotional film.
