Ride Your Wave
Ride Your Wave lets its bright coastal romance breathe before turning a supernatural idea into a tender confrontation with grief. Max carries the movie. Also released as Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara, this 2019 Science Saru original runs for 94 minutes and tells its whole story in one sitting. The expressive water imagery gives the fantasy a strong visual identity, but the emotions stay direct and easy to follow. Choose it when you want romance with genuine sorrow and a hopeful interest in learning how to live after loss. It is finished, self-contained, and requires no preparation.
About
A university student feels completely at home on a surfboard, even though life away from the waves leaves her unsure of herself. A fire brings her together with a calm young firefighter, and affection grows around their shared days by the sea. Their happiness is interrupted by a devastating loss. Later, she realizes that singing a song connected to their relationship can summon his presence through water. What begins as an impossible source of comfort gradually complicates her ability to face the future. Ride Your Wave follows her as she tries to understand how love can remain meaningful without holding her in place.
