Paranoia Agent
Paranoia Agent streams on Crunchyroll and Netflix — the only TV series Satoshi Kon ever directed, and essential viewing for anyone who's felt the pull of Perfect Blue or Paprika. Thirteen episodes of social anxiety, urban legend, and reality quietly coming apart at the seams.
About
A wave of street attacks grips the city: the assailant, witnesses say, is a grinning kid on golden rollerblades swinging a bent baseball bat. Two detectives take the case expecting a delinquent — instead they find a phenomenon. Each victim of 'Shonen Bat' turns out to be someone cornered by their own life, struck down at the exact moment their private pressure peaks, and the closer the investigation gets, the less the attacker behaves like a person at all. Kon uses the mystery as a scalpel, opening up a dozen lives to examine how rumor, shame, and escapism metastasize — until the line between mass hysteria and monster stops existing.
